FusionTech specializes in asphalt repair

Using Fusion and Infrared Heat Technologies

F

usion and Infrared Heat is the best method available for asphalt repairs and it is the “Green” way since the process recycles the existing asphalt on site. This makes it considerably less expensive than the conventional saw cut method, which is to saw cut and remove the damaged asphalt, haul it off and replace with new. In addition, the Fusion and Infrared process gives a seamless repair, as the final result is one continuous layer of asphalt as it was when it was new.

The repaired area is virtually fused with the surrounding asphalt, so there are no saw cuts as there are with the saw cut method. The saw cuts left behind from the saw cut method are basically cracks that go all the way through the asphalt allowing water in, so these saw cuts need to be filled with crack filler and they need to be re-filled about every two years, because the filler dries out and cracks allowing the water back in. The Fusion and Infrared Heat process gives a seamless repair, so there is no need for crack fillers or ongoing maintenance.

Fusion and Infrared Heat repairs have become the preferred method to repair asphalt for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and is being implemented on state roads, highways and UTA Trax stations throughout Utah.
